HALLIE + MATT // GRACE RESTAURANT WEDDING

When I met Hallie and Matt, I could tell they were going to be a fun couple to work with. Not only were they gorgeous subjects, but they were kind hearted and easy going. Our first shoot together was actually a fall engagement session where we strolled through the Old Port and West End of Portland, grabbing a few casual portraits along the way. Similar to this session, their wedding day weather was ideal for shooting outside. I first met Hallie at The Regency, while my associate Ben worked with the guys at a home nearby. We had beautiful light filtering through the windows at the newly renovated hotel and took full advantage with a few bridal portraits of Hallie. How ‘bout that wedding dress?!

When it was time for the ceremony, everyone headed over to the beautifully renovated former church, Grace Restaurant. By having their ceremony later in the day, we were able to take full advantage of the golden hour of sunlight both on the water and at a local park. Down at the dock in Falmouth we ran into a friend of mine, who offered to take us out on a boat for portraits on the water. This kind gesture rewarded us with some great images and an opportunity for Hallie and Matt to reflect on their amazing day. A quick stop at Maine Audubon Park for a bit more variety in their images and then it was back to Grace for a phenomenal reception. The spacious venue was dramatically lit for the reception. Guests were treated to some of the best food in all of Portland. As a wedding vendor, I’ve eaten many tasty meals throughout the years but the ribeye at Grace is definitely one of the best. I highly recommend visiting. Following dinner, a few kind words and laughs were shared during the speeches and then it was time for some fun as guests danced the night away with the happy couple. Congrats to Hallie and Matt! I’m truly blessed to work with the sweetest couples!
